Richard Soley, Chairman and CEO, Object Management Group

As Chairman and CEO, Dr. Soley is ultimately responsible for all of the business of OMG. Since he also was the original Technical Director of the OMG, he serves as a valuable resource for a broad range of topics: from predictions and trends in the industry to the nuts and bolts of CORBA implementations and the OMG technology adoption process.

Previously, Dr. Soley was a cofounder and former Chairman/CEO of A. I. Architects, Inc., maker of the 386 HummingBoard and other PC and workstation hardware and software. Prior to that, he consulted for various technology companies and venture firms on matters pertaining to software investment opportunities. Dr. Soley has also consulted for IBM, Motorola, PictureTel, Texas Instruments, Gold Hill Computer and others.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A., Dr. Soley holds the bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Lisa Clowers

Lisa Clowers is the Vice President of Standards and Technology for the Healthcare Distribution Management Association (HDMA), a leader in stimulating innovations that enhance the distributors' role in healthcare. Formerly the National Wholesale Druggists Association, HDMA secures safe and effective distribution of healthcare products, creates and exchanges industry knowledge affecting distribution management, and improves standards and business processes that influence healthcare commerce.

As the former Vice President of Public Affairs for the Data Interchange Standards Association (DISA), Ms. Clowers promoted the value of DISA, advanced the vision of DISA's influential members and established new business opportunities and strategic alliances. A strong and visionary advocate for e-commerce education, she also served as the Acting Executive Director for the EC Institute - a certification program for EC professionals. 

In her previous position as Director of Education for DISA, Ms. Clowers developed and conducted educational events for the association, such as the annual E-Business and Internet Conference and monthly seminars. Most notably, she initiated and created the highly successful conference covering hot topics surrounding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and developed productive partnerships to unite common industry initiatives.

Prior to joining DISA, Ms. Clowers served as the Manager of Standards Development for the National Wholesale Druggists' Association where she managed the Electronic Commerce Workgroup, developed educational sessions for the industry's annual productivity and technology conference and produced the industry's voluntary implementation guidelines for e-commerce.

Ms. Clowers holds a B.S. in Communications from Radford University. She resides in Manassas, VA, with her husband and two children.

Philip Scott

Phillip D. Scott has been involved in health care for over thirty years. During this period, he worked 17 years for Miles Pharmaceuticals, 16 years for McKesson Health Systems, and is currently employed with NCPDP where he is Senior Vice President, Health Care Relations and Development. At NCPDP, he is responsible for developing business and professional alliances as well as fund raising for this ANSI accredited Standards Development Organization. Scott was an active member of NCPDP since 1988, and served on the Board of Trustees and as the Chairman of the association. As Chairman he had oversight responsibilities for the business functions of the association. He also served on the Executive, Bylaws and Annual Conference Committees and sits on the Editorial Advisory Board for the Council Connection as Assistant Publisher. Scott is also a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a past board member of the Health Industry Federal Advisory Council, Health Industry Group Purchasing Association and the Board of Directors for the Arizona Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

Phillip is the 1996 recipient of the AZASHP industry representative of the year award.. In 1998, he received the NCPDP TIME award for his service and commitment to the organization.

Dale Chamberlain

Mr. Chamberlain is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Express Scripts, Inc., and has been with the company since 1989. He is responsible for the planning and development of data processing and information systems, technology evaluation, and defining the architectural and technology direction for the company. He is also acting as a technical advisor for RxHub, and played an early role in designing the architecture for RxHub. Mr. Chamberlain was instrumental in introducing the OMG CORBA technologies to Express Scripts, and driving the company's IS organization toward component based development methodologies for distributed computing. 

He has been active in the development of pharmacy industry standards as a member of the National Council on Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) since 1994. Dale has also served as co-chair of the NCPDP Enrollment Standards work group. 

Before joining Express Scripts, Dale was Assistant Vice-President and Corporate Systems Development Manager for Medicare-Glaser Corporation, which was the largest retail pharmacy chain in St. Louis, Missouri.

Ron Zahavi

Ron Zahavi is CTO of MedContrax, a healthcare sales information and contracting network solution provider with special expertise in healthcare data integration and synchronization applications.  Previously, Ron was Vice
President of the EAI Frameworks Solutions practice at Concept Five Technologies, Inc. Ron has over 19 years experience developing and integrating software and applications in the government and the commercial
sectors. Ron is the author of "EAI with CORBA" and also coauthored the international bestseller "The Essential CORBA". He has authored numerous articles and is a regular speaker and expert panelist at international
conferences on distributed object technologies, application integration and architecture. Ron holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Maryland. He has served on the OMG Architecture Board.

Thomas Culpepper

Thomas C. Culpepper is a Senior Architect at 2AB, Inc., a company that focuses on component-based development to provide "solutions for distributed business". Currently Tom serves as the Technical Co-Chair of OMG Healthcare Domain Task Force and consults with clients on component architecture and analysis / design using the UML. Tom has over 14 years experience in architecting and developing hospital information systems and medical domain applications in addition to working in standards organizations. Prior to joining 2AB, Tom was a Senior Software Engineer with 3M HIS where he specialized in object-oriented solutions and assisted in moving the proprietary legacy system into a n-tired open system architecture. At this time is was also a US Delegate to the ISO/JTC1 SC32 WG2 and author of the Metadata Query Service (MQS) New Work Item (NWI).  Tom holds a B.S. in Computer Science.

Carol Burt

Carol Burt is President and CEO of 2AB, specialist in “solutions for distributed business”(sm).  Carol has held numerous leadership positions in the Object Management Group (OMG) community, as a member of the architecture board, the press advisory board and a task force chair.  2AB participates in defining technology standards as a Domain Contributing Member of OMG.   In addition to her executive role at 2AB, Carol enjoys working with clients as they make the transition to component-based development.  With over 20 years experience helping systems communicate, she has great respect for the difficult task of designing software solutions in an environment of rapidly changing business requirements, legislation, and technology.  She believes that the only viable strategy is to adopt a standards based architecture that supports continuous managed migration.  Prior to founding 2AB in 1997, Carol headed a research and development group responsible for distributed computing at BellSouth Telecommunications Inc.  Carol holds a BS in Mathematics and a MS in Computer Science.

Fred Waskiewicz

As OMG's Director of Standards, Fred Waskiewicz coordinates all of the OMG's member-driven specification-adoption processes. He works closely with OMG members involved in creating and evaluating OMG specifications, and has taken over the responsibilities of chair of both the Domain and Platform Technology Committees. Previously, Fred was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at two Austin, Texas-based research consortia: SEMATECH International and MCC. Fred holds a B.S. in Physics and a M.S. in Computer Science.
